John 12:12-19

Scripture says that Jesus set his eyes toward Jerusalem fully aware of what was to come. Reflect on the love and willingness he allowed us to see by knowingly walking into that city where he would encounter persecution and crucifixion on your behalf.

Reflect on the fact that Jesus condescended (to descend to a less formal or dignified level; to waive the privileges of rank) not only to an incarnate state but to the point of death for those he created, and what it means to worship a Savior and God that would be willing to do that.

Matthew 21:12-22

Reflect on the holiness of Jesus in comparison to our depravity. Reflect on the fact that if you have believed in Jesus as your Savior and repented of your sin, that he has cleansed you of that sin. Pray for the Holy Spirit to reveal any places where you need to invite Jesus into your existing, unconfessed sin, and repent. Then rest in the fact that scripture says that “if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9.

John 12:20-28

The authority of Jesus was challenged over and over by the religious leaders who refused to accept that he was who he claimed to be, and yet he walked willingly to the cross for them. Reflect on the fact that Jesus died on the cross for you long before you existed, long before you believed in him, and while you were still living in sin, he loved and saved you.

Matthew 26:14-16

Reflect on the sinful reality that led to the betrayal of Jesus and how our own sin separated us from Jesus. Reflect on the fact that we have a Savior that was despised and rejected by those he came to save.

Hebrews 12:1-2; John 13:1-30, Matthew 26:36-46

What does it mean that we have a Servant King and why does that matter?
How does it impact your life and your worship to know that Jesus willingly walked to the cross for you?

John 19:16-30

When Jesus says on the cross, “It is finished,” what do you think he is referring to?
Reflect on the fact that through Jesus’ crucifixion, our slavery to sin and our separation from him is over. Do you truly believe that? How does that impact your life today?
